The Healing Power of Love
Away Retreat at KMC NY Temple for World Peace
Friday, June 6th - Sunday, June 8th
with Gen Kelsang Chogyop, Resident Teacher of Menlha KMC and Dharmachakra KBC and Resident Teacher, John Baker
Everyone Welcome, no experience necessary
In this Away Retreat, we’ll explore how it’s possible to improve all our relationships using Buddha’s wisdom. We’ll look at questions such as:
Isn’t our deepest wish to find stable love?
In fact, our most heartfelt wish as human beings is simply to be happy. Buddha teaches us that we can achieve this goal by learning to love others. Through cultivating meaningful relationships with others starting with our close circle of family and friends, our love begins to grow and along with it our happiness.
But there’s a problem.
Often it can seem that the very people we are trying to love are the ones standing in the way of our happiness! Those we love can test us, push our buttons, try our patience and fail to meet our wishes and expectations. How are we to maintain our love for others amidst the everyday challenges that pop up in all of our relationships?
In Buddha’s teachings we can find the answers we are looking for. These teachings give us the ability to continuously improve all of our relationships because we can learn to recognize the difference between real love and our unrealistic ideas about love.
The retreat feeling is guaranteed to refresh and enrich you. It is also wonderful to have the opportunity to relax in the Temple's beautiful, quiet environment, so conducive to developing the inner experience of these beautiful meditations. Between sessions we can enjoy each other's company and make new friendships.
Everyone welcome, no experience necessary.

A Life Beyond Fear
with Internationally Renowned Buddhist Nun, Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong
Thursday, September 11, 2025 • 7-8:30pm
The Town Hall • 123 W 43rd St, New York, NY 10036
In NYC - One Night Only!
Everyone Welcome
In times as stressful and uncertain as the ones we seem to be experiencing more and more often, we may ask, is a life beyond fear even possible?
In truth, fear arises from our mind, not from our environment. The fear and the anxiety that so many experience is not inevitable. If we come to recognize their underlying sources, we can learn to change our relationship to them.
Through the practice of meditation, we can learn to work skillfully with our fear. Instead of allowing it to overwhelm us, we learn to redirect it, so that it moves us towards developing those states of mind that naturally give rise to peace, confidence and a strong sense of purpose.
Based on her nearly 40 years of experience of meditation, Buddhist nun Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong, senior disciple of the great Buddhist teacher, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche and Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition, will guide us into recognizing our potential for a meaningful and joyful life truly beyond fear.
